Pre-K teacher Jaime Herndon at Bennett Elementary received a special surprise for her classroom from an anonymous donor through the organization Donors Choose. A brand new kitchen playset was delivered that will encourage socialization and language for her special education students.
"The kitchen area is the most popular place to be in my class," said Herndon. "This is where a lot of socialization and language happens. When you have an inclusion classroom like I do, you need many tools to get kids involved in the learning process and to help the learning come alive. This new kitchen and tools certainly have done the trick."
According to donors.choose.org, the organization has fulfilled over 1.3 million classroom project requests and serve 83% of public schools. Their mission is to make it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need.
