On Thursday, February 13, Frenship Superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord participated in a forum of the area’s educational leaders alongside Deputy Superintendent of Lubbock-Cooper ISD Dr. Macy Satterwhite, and Associate Superintendent of Lubbock ISD Doyle Vogler. The forum made possible by Raise Your Hand Texas, a non-partisan advocacy group focused on raising awareness about issues facing public education in Texas, took place at the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Administrative Offices and was well-attended by educators and community members.

“Frenship ISD is deeply grateful for the Raise Your Hand Texas’ commitment to ensuring all Texas children are afforded the opportunity for a premier, public education,” said McCord. “Taking the opportunity to speak plainly about the successes and challenges in public education is so important. Our work, and the work of the legislature, did not end with House Bill 3. There is much more to be done for public education in Texas.”

Students from all three districts performed as part of the event including the Mariachi de Oro and Navy JROTC from Lubbock High School, scouts from Scout Troop #593, FFA students from Lubbock-Cooper High School, and Faith Drake from Frenship High School.

An education-related forum including two candidates for Texas House District 83 followed the educator panel with education-focused questions about topics including House Bill 3 effects, safety and security, and testing and accountability.
