Kindness radiated throughout the hallways at Frenship schools as the students celebrated Kindness Week. While this important character trait is something Frenship promotes year-round, counselors throughout the District spent all last week emphasizing kindness through unique and hands-on activities.

Upland Heights fifth graders got a lesson on the power of words and why it’s so important to watch what you say. One of the activities involved students trying to put toothpaste back in the tube to show how you cannot take back your words.

The students also created kindness posters to hang in the hallways while the student council made “encourage kindness” bookmarks. Upland Heights counselor Misty Speck says the campus is doing a kindness challenge to keep the kindness going for the rest of the year.

“I hope the kids remember that their acts of kindness, big or small, will be the start of something great,” said Speck.

The kindness celebrations continued across the District with Crestview Elementary students carrying out daily missions to show random acts of kindness all week. Legacy did a similar challenge where the students tried to do nice things for each other. Willow Bend students were read kindness books during their bonus time at the end of the day and they had a ‘Kind Picture Wall’ with a kindness challenge each day.

Fitting perfectly into the Frenship Way model of SERVE – Smile, Engage, Respect, Volunteer, and Encourage – counselors across the District hope students will continue to show kindness throughout the year.
