Bennett Elementary Students Learn Positive Strategies to Prevent Bullying

This week students learned the importance of how to stay safe if they find themselves in a situation with a bully.

Lisa Ribaudo, Bennett Elementary Physical Education Teacher, says that the presentation taught students about positive strategies and methods for handling bullying. “The students learned about personal responsibility, developing a positive reputation, and positive actions to take to handle bullying and prevent it, and another way they can move their body. They also learned what to do if a stranger approaches and how to handle that,” said Ribaudo.

James Yeager, Instructor at Premier Martial Arts, led the presentations and encouraged students to first and foremost be kind to others.

A few of the tips from Premier Martial Arts to stay safe include:

  1. Stay away from people who bully
  2. If one approaches, step back and say “stop” in a strong voice
  3. If the bully continues to come towards you step back, hold arms out with stop hands and shout “stop”
  4. Report to an adult

Students were given a free voucher to attend a class session at Premier Martial Arts where they can continue to learn ways to be active.
